Welcome and salutations from sunny San Juan. The last few days have been good. On Monday we were in Amber Cove Dominican Republic and today Wednesday we are in San Juan Puerto Rico. We had an excursion book in Amber Cove but was cancelled due to heavy rains just prior to us docking. We were a bit sad but we are also seasoned cruisers so we know that these things happen. We walked around the port area which actually had some interesting facts. The 2nd Jurassic film was done in The Dominican Republic. Amber Cove is named after the amber found in this region. Amber was made many years from tree sap that became petrified. There are only two regions in the world where amber if found. The Dominican Republic and the Baltic states. So we did learn some fun facts.
Today we visited San Juan again. The first visit in November, we walked and toured the fort called Castillo San Felipe del Morro, "El Morro". This fort is literally located and the mouth of the entrance into the bay. Today we walked to the second fort located a bit east of the other fort. This fort is called Castillo San Cristobal. We paid $20 to explore the fort. It was definitely well worth the money to transverse the fort. To walk the same paths that soldiers of the long past would have been walking and running around with muskets and cannons was surreal. We will attached some photos of the fort. We definitely got our steps in today. The ramps in the fort were steep, so imaging the soldiers hauling the heavy cannons up them was amazing.
When we finished our self guided tour, we went to find a local eating establishment. I did forget to mention that some of the streets in Old San Juan are paved with blue bricks, which we just found out were used as ballast in ships and the ballast was made from slag from steel Mills in Europe.
We did find a little restaurant that was rated Four stars and it was well worth it. The restaurant was packed. We ate some of the local fare and drank an original Pina colada, which was originally made here in San Juan.

We are very much enjoying our journey to this point. It is very weird at times but we are learning to just let go and enjoy each and every moment. It's the little things in life that we sometimes just skip over and now have time to stop and smell the "preverbiale rose". Thanks for stopping by and checking up on us. Thank you also for allowing us to take you on the journey as well. Thanks again and have an awesome day.
